Freelance Copyeditor and Proofreader for Apex Publishing
November 2004 to Present: For the last three and a half years I have received a steady flow of freelance copyediting projects from Apex Publishing, a division of Apex CoVantage. I completed over 20 projects in 2007, and have become very familiar with a variety of styles, including Chicago Manual of Style and American Psychological Association style. My deadlines are met 95 percent of the time, and I pride myself on my excellent attention to detail and drive for perfection. Freelancing has greatly contributed to my knowledge and experience of the book publishing industry, and I believe it has provided the necessary background to enrich my career in publishing.

Associate Editor at Summit Technical Media
January 2005 to Present: Summit Technical Media is a small LLC that produces and publishes the monthly engineering magazine High Frequency Electronics. The Company also publishes a quarterly magazine for the QRP Amateur Radio Club titled QRP Quarterly. As associate editor, I prepare all materials for publication in our print and online editions.Using QuarkXPress for Windows, I am responsible for the layout of columns and articles. My tasks also include basic copyediting. Other duties include author correspondence and maintenance of the High Frequency Electronics Web site. As the only employee of a partnership, I have learned and fulfilled a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities in order to produce our magazine smoothly and efficiently.

Editorial Coordinator at Impressions Book and Journal Services, Inc.
July 2003 to September 2004: Impressions produced books and journals in print and electronic forms for a wide range of publishers-trade, professional, scholarly, scientific, and educational. I was initially hired in July as a limited term employee and was hired full time as an editorial assistant on September 22, 2003. In February 2004, I was promoted to editorial coordinator. My job duties included coordinating and copyediting indexes, performing final manuscript reviews, preparing copyediting memos, keymarking original manuscripts, and applying template styles to electronic files. I also occasionally completed proofreading and copyediting. Impressions was purchased by Apex Publishing in October 2004.
